Newsletter 003: Celebrating St. JOHN

The story of St. JOHN, from Smithfield in 1994 to a Michelin star, plus our pick of their wines and a St. JOHN pour in store during Drake's at drosten.

The original St. JOHN restaurant opened near Smithfield market (Fabric nightclub) in 1994. It offered the original nose-to-tail dining experience and has remained a British institution ever since. Trevor first started buying wines direct from growers in France in 1996. Fergus published the cult book “Nose to Tail Eating” in 1999. They opened their own winery in 2008 and won their first Michelin star in 2009, which they hold to this day. The full story cannot be told in a few lines, but I recommend anyone reading this to dig a little deeper, buy the books and, if you are lucky enough, dine at one of their restaurants.

We are privileged to stock the St. JOHN wines and beers at DAILY. They offer an unrivalled combination of quality and value – something for every occasion. Below are our top picks, which you’ll find in store.

We’re also pleased to continue our partnership with our friends at drosten as they host another British institution, Drake’s, from 6–8 November. From 3pm on the Saturday, we’ll be pouring a selection of St. JOHN wines and beers in the store. Please come along and say hello if you’re in town.
